Income tax return for people in the Netherlands

Your tax return,
made clear

Add your documents. A photo from your phone is fine. Klaar reads the details for you and only asks about what’s still missing.

  • No tax knowledge needed
  • Phone photos, files or typing
  • You check everything before it’s final

Less work. More clarity.

Made for busy people,
not tax experts.

Your documents hold most of the answers. Klaar brings them together, so you can get on with your day.

Your documents do the typing

Add your statements and letters. We read the details and use them wherever they’re needed in your return.

Questions about everyday life

Your work. Your home. Who you live with. We ask only for what your documents don’t tell us.

Every figure has a source

See where an amount came from. Check it against your document and change anything that needs another look.

You stay in control

Review your return in one clear summary. Nothing is sent to the Belastingdienst without your approval.

How it works

From paperwork
to peace of mind.

Start with what you have. We’ll guide you through the rest.

  1. Choose your tax year

Tell us which year you’re filing for. We’ll guide you through the details for that year.

  2. Add your documents

Take a photo or choose your files. We read the details, so you don’t have to copy them. Prefer to type? You can do that too.

  3. Fill in the gaps

Answer simple questions about anything still missing. Check the details we found, with your original documents close by.

  4. Review and choose how to file

Check your return yourself or choose an accountant’s review. You approve the final details before your return is sent.

What is Klaar?

Klaar helps you prepare your Dutch personal income tax return from your documents. It reads the details, asks about anything missing and brings everything together for your review. Choose self-filing or an accountant’s review.

Do I need to understand taxes?

No. We use everyday questions about your work, your home and the people you live with. When a Dutch document name helps you find the right statement, we explain it alongside the plain-English meaning.

Why use Klaar rather than Mijn Belastingdienst?

Mijn Belastingdienst is the government’s own filing service. Klaar is an independent paid service focused on working from your documents, explaining what’s missing and showing where figures came from. You can also choose an accountant’s review. You remain free to use the government service directly.

What does it cost?

Self-filing starts from €49.99 and accountant review from €149.99 per person, per tax year, including VAT. More involved situations cost more. You’ll see an exact quote based on your situation before any payment.

What’s the difference between the two options?

Both start with your documents, clear questions and a summary you can check and edit. With self-filing, you review the return yourself. With accountant review, an accountant checks and corrects your prepared return. You review and approve the final version, and the accountant submits it to the Belastingdienst.

Can I use photos of my documents?

Yes. Use clear photos that show the whole page, or choose the original digital files when you have them. You can also enter details yourself. Klaar keeps each figure connected to its source so you can check it.

What if two documents show different amounts?

We flag the difference and ask you to check the sources. We don’t silently choose a figure. If a detail can’t be resolved, it stays open rather than being treated as ready to file.

Does Klaar guarantee a tax refund?

No. Whether you receive money back or need to pay depends on your circumstances and the tax rules for your year. Our service fee is separate from any tax you owe or receive back.
